Mark A. Ahrens

Mark is Vice President of Tau Beta Pi, has worked for three years for WPAFB as a Lab Tech, and for one quarter for Emerson Climate Tech, Inc. In high school, he was captain of the varsity football team powerlifting team. Mark plans to attend graduate school.


Sarah E. Allison

Sarah is a Peer Mentor of nine WSU Freshmen majoring in Computer Science, and is involved in the CECS Help Room as well as a CEG 233 Lab Helper. While participating in 4-H, Sarah was a member of the Jr. Fair Board, Jr. Leadership Club and attended the State Wide Leadership Camp as a representative from Montgomery County. She is currently interested in the early stages of Software Engineering, which would match well with her prior quality control experience.


Ethan B. Blackford
Major: Biomedical Engineering

Hometown: Beavercreek, Ohio

Ethan is currently a student researcher in the HUMAN Lab, 711 HPW/RHCP of the Air Force Research Lab. He is employed by Beavercreek City Schools as Auditorium Manager as well. Ethan is an Eagle Scout and has held leadership positions within his Boy Scout troop. He is also a Habit for Humanity project leader, and in high school was Student Technical Director and Senior Stage Manager. In addition, at WSU Ethan is a Peer Mentor for CECS and the Honors Program, as well as a CECS Student Ambassador. He can also add the CECS Dean's Student Advisory Board to his list of leadership positions. After graduation, Ethan plans on accepting an early acceptance offer from the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. As a doctor, Ethan will also engage in meaningful research.


Derek W. Boone
Major: Computer Engineering

Hometown: Hillsboro, Ohio

Derek is a part of the Student Research Participation Program with the Air Force Research Laboratory. At WSU he is a member of Wright State University's Student Honors Association, First-Year Student National Honor Society, Vice President of the Association for Computing Machinery, and a calculus teaching assistant. After graduation, Derek plans on starting a career in the defense industry, and continuing on at Wright State in Graduate school.


David E. Brendel
Major: Biomedical Engineering

Hometown: Centerville, Ohio

David is employed with Tec Edge and has worked with Nano materials. In the BMES competition, he has co-lead in product design. Additionally, he has been a UTA in the anatomy lab and has been a CECS volunteer tutor, as well as BMES activities coordinator. In the future, David would like to develop practical methods for drug delivery using nanoparticle functionalization.


Dan Carver

As a non-traditional student and father of three, Dan has coached football, basketball, baseball and soccer. He sits on the Board of Directors for Northmont Future bolts. His goal is for a career in surgical instrumentation, tools and robotics sales and training.


Phillip Cooley
Major: Graduate Student, Mechanical Engineering

Hometown: Dayton, Ohio

Phillip is a Graduate Research Assistant, and has participated in the International Industrial/Academic Leadership Experience program where he has the opportunity to travel to Taiwan and work with a multi-national team of students from other parts of Asia, helping him to better understand leading cultural diverse students. He also has a professional background in sales and management. After receiving his M.S. and PhD at Wright state, Phillip would like to find a position where he can continue research in the areas of structural dynamics, fluid dynamics or some electric topic such as signal processing.


Ronald A. Dexter

Hometown: West Carrollton, Ohio

Ronald has a co-op position at MacAulay Brown. He is also an Eagle Scout, and a part of Adult Leadership training with the Boy Scouts of America. Ronald would like to work in the consumer electronics field, developing new technologies. He is interested in working at the board level and program micro-controllers and macro processers.


Taylor D. Edmiston

Hometown: Springfield, Ohio

Taylor has been a Web Developer at Reynolds & Reynolds and a Resident Assistant at Wright State University. He is presently a mobile development researcher under Dr. Yong Pei, as well as the webmaster for the CECS Dean's Student Advisory Board. In keeping with his busy schedule, Taylor is also co-founder and President of the WSU Foosball Club, President of the WSU Association for Computer Machinery, a CECS student representative to the Academic Computer committee, and Peer Mentor for CECS. After graduation, Taylor wants to explore entrepreneurial efforts with his fellow computer science friends, perhaps starting his own computer software company.


Neal A. Eikenberry
Major: Computer Science/Computer Engineering

Hometown: Gettysburg, Ohio

Neal is a TA for the Computer Science/Computer Engineering department at WSU, He is also a student intern for DoD Supercomputing Resource Center at WPAFB, and has been primary developer on several projects. In high school, Neal was involved in 4-H, choir and NHS, and in 4-H he was the president of the Darke County Jr. Fair Board. He continued to serve as a junior advisor for that group during his Freshman year of college. After receiving a dual BS in Computer Science and Computer Engineering with a minor in Math, Neal will work towards a Master's and PhD in Computer Security, as he is aware of the growing need for cyber security. He hopes to secure employment with a federal agency.


Aaron S. Evers
Major: Electrical Engineering

Hometown: Coldwater, Ohio

Aaron was in the Army National Guard for the past six years and was a team leader which involved being in charge of his team's equipment as well as two other members of the squad. He shares a leadership role with another colleague as a research intern as they conduct studies according the guidelines of their advisor. Aaron is also a tutor. He would like to continue on with his education after graduation and obtain his Master's degree, and possibly a PhD. Aaron's ultimate goal is to provide educational opportunities to those in nations that have little or no access to an education.


Christopher D. Ferguson

Chris was the president of the Wright State men's volleyball club, and is the Vice-President of the Wright State Habitat for Humanity, as well as a CECS Student Ambassador. He has been a CECS student mentor and is present a tutor in the Math Help Center at WSU. Chris plans to graduate with honors, and attend medical school to become a surgeon, using his gifts to give back to his community, and work with low income areas around the United States and the world.


Aaron M. Fouts

Aaron is currently working as a Wright State contractor with the Air Force Research Laboratory's Sensors Directorate. He has also led a small group that was tasked with software development while working at the Tec^Edge ICC during his Sophomore year at WSU. After graduation, Aaron would like to continue utilizing/developing algorithms in the field of artificial intelligence, and he is also interested in 3D computer graphics and visualization.


Michael D. George

Michael is involved in a GE Aviation Co-op, is a WSU Resident Assistant and in addition a Research Assistant at Angstron Materials. He is also a Tau Beta Pi member, ASME member, Omicron Delta Kappa member and a National Residence Hall Honorary member, together with being on the University Activities Board, a Street Team Co-Captain, WSU Honors Program member, WSU Student Honors Association webmaster and a member of the WSU Pep Band. After graduation, Michael would like to obtain employment designing parts, to eventually become a project manager and an engineering executive.

Kalea Gore
Major: Biomedical Engineering
Expected Graduation: 2013
High School: Newton High School
Hometown: Troy, Ohio

Kalea has had an internship with Evenflo. In high school she was a member of Future Problem Solvers and a section leader in marching and concert band. During Fall quarter 2011, she is a teaching assistant for ANT 310 and MTH 229, as well as an undergraduate researcher with Dr. Goshwami's Spinal Research Group. After graduation, Kalea plans to seek employment with a biomedical research company, while at the same time pursuing a Master's degree. Eventually, it is her plan to receive a doctorate degree in tissue engineering. Her goal is to develop a non-invasive method of hasteningnerve regeneration in the spinal cord. Being a guest lecturer is also one of Kalea's goals.


Virginia K. Hall
Major: Biomedical Engineering

Hometown: Grove City, Ohio

Currently, Ginny works with the CECS Recruitment and Retention Team helping to prepare for orientation sessions as an ambassador to incoming students. This is in addition to work as a pharmacy technician at Clark's Pharmacy. She was very involved at Grove City High School in National Honor Society, Marching Band, as a tutor and as a Girl Scout. At Wright State, Ginny has been involved with many organizations, including CECS Peer Mentor program, President and co-founder of Pre-Pharmacy Society, among others. Ginny plans to pursue a doctoral degree in the field of pharmacy after graduation from Wright State, with the goal of applyingher skills towards the invention of medicine and pharmaceutical equipment in the field of neuroscience.


Tyler C. Highlander
Major: Computer Science

Hometown: Bainbridge Township, Ohio

Tyler is working at the air Force Research Laboratories through Wright State University. He is al President of the Honors Community Council of RCA, ACM Program Director,and a member of the Student Honors Association. He was president of his high school's bocce ball club and physics club, was Assistant Team Lead of Pizza Pear at Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom, and Technial Director of Precious Cargo. Additionally, he was president of high school's audio/visual club. Tyler's plan after graduation is to receive a Master's of Science in Computer Science, and is open to where this might lead him for a career. He also has an interest in Cryptography.


Isiah Kendall
Major: Biomedical Engineering

Hometown: Columbus, Ohio

Besides being a Wright State University Art Gallery Monitor, Isiah is a member of Wright State's BME Club and NSBE Club. After severing his finger with a machete as a child and having to endure two years of therapy, Isiah was influenced to pursue a career of helping others. After later fracturing his leg wrestling, he knew he wanted to be involved in the medical field. After graduation, Isiah will focus on the field of rehabilitation, where he can not only give back, but use his creative abilities.


Benson W. Melvin
Major: Computer Engineering

Hometown: Bloomingburg, Ohio

Benson is currently a Lab TA in the CS 240 Series at WSU. Additionally, he presented labs for graduate classes a the Air Force Institute of Technology in Summer, 2011. He has served as Fayette County 4-H Jr. Fair Board Member, 4-H camp counselor and Jr. Leader Member, as well as president, vice-president, treasurer and new reporter in Fayette Land and Livestock 4-H Club. This past summer, Benson had the opportunity towork on CubeSats at AFIT. After graduation, he plans on working with microcontrollers and processors.


Sabrina K. Metzger
Major: Biomedical Engineering

Hometown: Camden, Ohio

Sabrina volunteers one day per week at Grandview Hospital in Endoscopy. In addition, she has implemented new finishing techniques at Ashway Painting while helping employees transition through the changes by giving encouragement, listening to their concerns and offereing constructive criticism. Sabrina's goal as a pre-med student is to be a physician and to continue with research while practicing medicine, believing that combining research and a medical practice is a complementary and enhancing pairing.


Justin L. Moll
Major: Electrical Engineering (Minor: Computer Science)

High School: Tecumseh High School
Hometown: Park Layne, Ohio

In addition to working as a calculus tutor in the WSU Student Academic Success Center, Justin is Vice President of IEEE, and a team leader for junior technicians at Deban Enterprises. As part of AFROTC, he has been athletics officer and Cade Colonel/Squadron Commander, as well as Kitty Hawk Society President. Justin plans to be a part of the BSEE/MSEE program, and while working on these degrees, he will seek employment through a co-op program. His goal is to be employed as a professional engineer, and also obtain an MBA, and eventually manage his own business.


Loc P. Nguyen
Major: Industrial & Systems Engineering

Hometown: BacLieu, Vietnam

Loc has had Co-ops at AFRL, Thermal and Electro Chemical Branch, Norwood Medical Corporation and SNI, Inc. He has participated in many organization some of which are Vietnamese Student Association as co-founder and president, Student Advisory Council in the BIE Department and CECS Peer Mentor, and has attended many conferences. As a 2011 Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) recipient, Loc must work for Los Angeles Air Force Base for at least one year. After he has fulfilled that obligation, he will pursue a Master's Degree in Engineering Management. Loc would like to become a full-time professor and part time research for a university.


Matthew S. Sherwood

Matthew is working at Tec^Edge as a GTA, where he has led student projects. In high school, he was a part of National Honor Society and Teen Leadership. Matthew is also teaching 3 undergraduate/graduate courses. He hopes to be an invited speaker for various topics at high schools in the Dayton area through contacts made at WPAFB. Matthew plans to work in a research position in biomedical imaging, with a goal of helping to improve the lives of others.


Marcus K. Stevenot

Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio

Marcus works for Arpac Group, and held numerous leadership positions in his Boy Scout troop, including patrol leader, senior patrol leader and Junior Assistant Scout Master. His goal is to obtain a challenging career in the mechanical engineering field.
